Kids Soccer Drills: Discover New Ways To Coach Your Team

Kids Soccer Drills

Although your opinion may be different from mine on this but still pay attention. There is a huge difference in the techniques adopted in kids soccer drills to train kids in comparison to those who are in high school or college. It is necessary as the young players are somewhat aware of their likes and dislikes, whereas kids just begin to get a hang of many new things.

Still, in soccer drills for kids, there are a variety of means for coaching transforming budding players into champions. First and foremost, never forget that kids will remain interested in the game only till the time they find pleasure out of it. They will feel pressured if their interest continues to decline. The pressure to quit the game begins to play on them. Allow the kids to take their own sweet time to absorb the pressures.

A lot of kids like playing the game because it’s fun whereas many other play for the sake of their parents. In either case, kids don’t consider any amount of rewards or trophies for playing the game. In kids soccer drills, it’s common for the soccer coaches to disregard this feature. They get on to the kids nerves to attain the performance targets like their physical capacity and skills. This results in kids not only feeling discouraged but also suffer from low-esteem.

Youth Soccer Drills

In planning soccer drills for kids, it’s normal for a new coach to feel somewhat troubled initially. It may be because of difficult behavior of kids in the team. But, take it easy. It may take a little while but they would certainly understand the importance of punctuality and teamwork. They will also realize that in order to get respect they will first have to respect other team members including their coach.

Here, it is vital that young boys in youth soccer drills are made aware of the new regulations. This is because of the fact that they may not be aware of them and take time to learn them. Also, ensure that you involve everyone and take their view points before taking important decisions. This makes it easy for the kids to accept and follow the required changes.

In the role of a coach, it makes sense that you help the kids develop some good traits as well. For this, you should observe the kids performance individually. You should make sure that all boys spend ample time on the ground and that you praise them wherever due. Also, it is equally important to penalize the boys who do not follow the stated rules and regulations.
This makes the boys responsible for their actions.

Yet, be careful in doing so. Don’t be harsh with the kid. He should not be ignored or made fun of. For example, a healthy penalty would be to keep the kid from being a part of the training sessions.

Kids Soccer Drills: Uncover The Biggest Mistakes Coaches Make

Kids Soccer Drills

It’s not wrong that in kids soccer drills, coaches are very much responsible for the downfall of the players as a team because of some errors. Yes, that’s correct. Most of you might wonder as to what can be so big that puts the team on a loosing streak. Well then, the bad news is that they are many.

With respect to soccer drills for kids, you’ve got to act very cautiously and tactfully. Make it a point to know and value psychology of the kids. Speak with them in a language that they can understand well. But unfortunately, many coaches are unprepared to adjust to it. They simply close their eyes to the dissimilarity between teaching adult players and kids.

So this is it; let me share some blunders that coaches make which reduce their teams to rubble.

1. Many coaches take their jobs for granted. They are not punctual, fail to organize the drills, and don’t think it’s important to plan the sessions. Such behavior is bad and also has the potential to sadden the kids. Kids tend to be very serious about soccer and you should too. Plan the youth soccer drills in advance. Arrange for various equipments needed to perform the drills before-hand.

Always be prompt. Don’t be the one to reach the field later than the kids. Well in fact, grace the filed with your presence when kids reach. It provides you some spare time to review the drills and organize things better.

2. When the coaches are instructing before the kids soccer drills, it is normal for them to take a long time. Have you ever imagined how torturous that can be! Understand that kids come to play soccer, not to hear your long lectures. Keep your instructions brief and to the point. Use this talk to motivate the kids and increase their confidence.

It is extremely vital that the kids are not interrupted while playing. If you have noted anything wrong, share it after the drill has ended. And stand outside the field when the kids are playing.

3. Some coaches tend to get emotional or abusive with the players. In soccer drills for youth, this can prove to be catastrophic. It is never a good idea to show your emotions on the field. It is natural for the kids to make errors on the field. Do not forget that they are children. Never take things very critically and make it an excuse to get bad with the players.

In such a situation, you disengage the kids from the game and also create problems for yourself. Soccer is a game of the mind. Make the kids realize this and you would have motivated them.

Just keep yourself aloof from these problems in kids soccer drills. If you are looking for tips on how coaches should handle the kids, subscribe to our youth soccer coaching community. This will dramatically improve your knowledge and skills.
