Kids Soccer Drills: Uncover The Biggest Mistakes Coaches Make
It’s not wrong that in kids soccer drills, coaches are very much responsible for the downfall of the players as a team because of some errors. Yes, that’s correct. Most of you might wonder as to what can be so big that puts the team on a loosing streak. Well then, the bad news is that they are many.
With respect to soccer drills for kids, you’ve got to act very cautiously and tactfully. Make it a point to know and value psychology of the kids. Speak with them in a language that they can understand well. But unfortunately, many coaches are unprepared to adjust to it. They simply close their eyes to the dissimilarity between teaching adult players and kids.
So this is it; let me share some blunders that coaches make which reduce their teams to rubble.
1. Many coaches take their jobs for granted. They are not punctual, fail to organize the drills, and don’t think it’s important to plan the sessions. Such behavior is bad and also has the potential to sadden the kids. Kids tend to be very serious about soccer and you should too. Plan the youth soccer drills in advance. Arrange for various equipments needed to perform the drills before-hand.
Always be prompt. Don’t be the one to reach the field later than the kids. Well in fact, grace the filed with your presence when kids reach. It provides you some spare time to review the drills and organize things better.
2. When the coaches are instructing before the kids soccer drills, it is normal for them to take a long time. Have you ever imagined how torturous that can be! Understand that kids come to play soccer, not to hear your long lectures. Keep your instructions brief and to the point. Use this talk to motivate the kids and increase their confidence.
It is extremely vital that the kids are not interrupted while playing. If you have noted anything wrong, share it after the drill has ended. And stand outside the field when the kids are playing.
3. Some coaches tend to get emotional or abusive with the players. In soccer drills for youth, this can prove to be catastrophic. It is never a good idea to show your emotions on the field. It is natural for the kids to make errors on the field. Do not forget that they are children. Never take things very critically and make it an excuse to get bad with the players.
In such a situation, you disengage the kids from the game and also create problems for yourself. Soccer is a game of the mind. Make the kids realize this and you would have motivated them.
