“The 4-Hour Body” experiment: Part 2-muscle building diet

I read and reread Timothy Ferriss’s book “The 4-Hour Body” with specific interest in the adding muscle chapters. I find the huge book can be summed up very quickly by digging through the info and trying to make sense. I am making “my” sense since I don’t have the author next to me to instruct me. The diet I am experimenting with is based on the slow carb diet to lose weight. I included the simple details in the above video as well as the additional steps needed to gain weight. Will this weight be fat or muscle we will all soon find out. I figure a month commitment isn’t too much time to sacrifice. It’s strange to drink milk again, as I lived for 20 years without it. I’m not so sure it’s “healthy” but I feel thicker and sturdier as I gorge myself each day, anxiously awaiting the “binge day”.

So true! that’s how I can make these videos. If I wasn’t so involved in trying to prove “The 4-Hour Body” won’t work, I’d quit because of the gas, hemorrhoids, and almost passing out last work out.

how are you supposed to read the “I don’t think milk is…” thing. sheesh

you’re right to question the healthiness of this diet I doubt the tim what’shisname would encourage anybody to do it all the time

I’ve seen many videos on YT on the 4hr diet & have to say yours is by far the most informative & level headed commentary & review on it. Basically sounds like the atkins diet but with some spinach on the side. I doubt doing this longterm could be healthy. I couldn’t imagine going thru life not eating fruit , salads & other greens. And there are alternatives to the ” white carbs” try the wholegrains though in moderation.

    Thanks for the great comment…
I think you have misunderstood the diet, let me re explain:
Fruit is left for cheat days only (except for avocados and tomatoes)
You are supposed to eat greens with every meal: salads, veges, seaweed, whatever greens u can put inside of u. Broccolli, green beans, asparagus ect.
For losing weight you dont eat carbs except for cheat day. For gaining weight you eat good carbs with every non shake meal. Sorry if I wasnt clear.

@frenchfrye2000 Thx for the clarification. I guess if you’re only following this for a short period of time it’s OK as a “diet” to lose weight but not particularly as a longterm lifestyle change. I usually try to eat fruit every day or every second day & I think it’s hard to replace the kind of enzymes , vitamins , minerals & fibre you get from fruit. I read somewhere that he’s also against eating sweet potato which I’ve heard is one of the better carbs to eat. Whatabout wholegrains?

This is slightly superficial. But I love the color of your kitchen. It’s gorgeous. Thanks for the video. When I start to bulk I’ll go back to it. Right now I want to lose—I’m too big.
